Emmet Till
This piece was created on Procreate and released to Instagram for its initial publication.
"This is Emmet Till, beaten lynched at 14 years old after being falsely accused of offending a white woman named Carol Bryant in her family’s store. In 2008, Bryant admitted she lied about the encounter. Till was beaten, mutilated, and drown by Bryant’s brother and husband. Till’s body was found in the river three days later. The Bryant family was found not guilty. Today, memorials to Till are routinely vandalized by racists. I honor this life of Emmet Till, taken from us too soon. Say his name. His life mattered."
